Period/Style: Italian Renaissance Revival with Louis Philippe influence
Materials: Walnut and figured walnut veneer, white marble, brass hardware, and pine secondary woods
Form: Pair of marble-top bedside commodes
Description: A matched pair of probable Italian walnut and figured-walnut-veneered bedside commodes. Each white marble top rests beneath a shaped backsplash centered by a molded circular boss and a small demilune shelf with turned pendant support. A locking frieze drawer surmounts an opposing cabinet door veneered with diagonal borders and a rounded-arch figured panel. Carved bracket details enrich the front stiles, and each shelved cabinet rises on short turned feet. The opposing doors confirm the pair was designed for placement on either side of a bed.
Dimensions: 32.5 in. H, 16.5 in. W, 14 in. D, each.

Condition: Retains an older polished or refinished surface with scratches, abrasions, color variation, veneer cracks, edge losses, and localized repairs. Splitting and repair are visible at the drawer-front corners. The marble tops exhibit staining, surface wear, and minor edge imperfections. The backsplashes show finish deterioration, with later wooden braces or reinforcement visible on the reverse. Hardware appears period.
